Ethics & sustainability
Founder, Caitriona Erskine studied a Bachelor of Environmental Science, majoring in Wildlife and Conservation Biology. Valuing sustainable and ethical clothing production was a priority in the development and creation of Odysseus&Penelope.
Committed to reducing our carbon footprint as much as we can, we strive to outsource locally, produce limited drops, and print on recycled sustainable fabrics and use as eco-friendly supplies as possible such as mailers/packaging etc.
We are forever learning and growing to introduce ways to reduce our carbon footprint as much as possible as we grow as a brand.

Our Story
Odysseus&Penelope
The name “Odysseus&Penelope” is drawn from an Ancient Greek poem which entails a journey of the King of Ithaca, Odysseus...
Founded in 2020 in Melbourne/Naarm by Caitriona Erskine, Odysseus&Penelope was created to bring to life exclusive fashion garments that reflect sustainability, ethical production, and timelessness. Inspired heavily by nature and mythology, Odysseus&Penelope’s customer should feel free, confident, and bold through wearing effortless designs of vibrant colours and original prints.
Initially as a brand, I started out by creating hand-made face masks for music festivals, which then boomed once covid hit, being the initial only local hand-made mask brand existing in the area. We were stocking our masks in multiple stores across Melbourne at the start of the covid pandemic to get as many masks out as we could.
I then branched out to create women's clothing, focusing on releasing exclusive designs in limited drops. As we grew, we have collaborated with experienced and talented creatives such as pattern makers / local manufacturers / local artists / and local graphic designers to bring to life some carefully curated designs and collections.
I studied a Bachelor of Wildlife & Conservation Biology, so I wanted to create a label that focused on prioritising sustainable & ethical production and celebrated the natural world through fashion. My creative inspiration is heavily influenced by all things flora & fauna, which you will be able to see through my designs. Odysseus&Penelope is not only a brand, it's a lifestyle.
The pandemic has definitely highlighted the importance of shopping locally and supporting local businesses, this is why local production has become a key focus in our development.
I am so happy with the brand we are today and I am excited to share more quality garments that you can add to your sustainable summer wardrobes.
Thank you for being on this journey with us
